Storth Machinery are the UK’s leading manufacturer of slurry handling equipment. Established in 1999 by Chris Richardson and Alan Looker, they grew rapidly year-on-year into a worldwide brand exporting to over 30 countries.
“Sensible were the go-to provider”
But along with the continuous expansion came extra demand on operations right across the business. Storth were in need of scalable office technology to match the ambitions of a large company, starting with a new printer:
“We needed a device that could cope with the volume and capacity, as well as the reliability to keep up with our day-to-day operations,” remembers Jodi Looker, Accounts Manager at Storth Machinery.
“Thanks to advice from a former staff member, we knew Sensible were the go-to provider.”
And their needs didn’t stop there. Being a modern business dependent on computers, Storth also required IT support to ensure the computers and software worked properly, as Jodi explains, “if our account system goes down for even a moment, it’s a nightmare; we need it constantly to avoid downtime and stay operational”.
She goes on to highlight the support received. “They know us. They don’t ask for serial numbers before helping us, as they know us by name and can get straight into our computers – it’s a personal service.”
“We are saving 1/3 of our previous phone bill each month”
Soon after getting B4RN internet, Storth were looking to save money by taking advantage of the lower costs of VoIP phones. As a result of the printer and IT support Storth had experienced, they decided there was only one company to go to.
“We were looking into upgrading to a VoIP phone system, so we asked the guys at Sensible if this was something they could help with. They came back to us with a good offer, and it was a no-brainer.
“Now we are saving roughly 1/3 of our previous phone bill each month by swapping our telephones from BT to Sensible, and the new phone system also has better functionality.”
Most recently, Storth wanted an updated website to better represent the global brand. Describing the result, Jodi notes “they’re always on the other end of the phone to provide support, and are good at coming up with solutions”. The service has allowed them manage routine updates independently, whilst receiving technical support for more significant changes.
“Joining Sensible has made our lives much easier”
Jodi hails the benefits that Sensible has had upon the business:
“It’s been easier using one company for all our office technology. They know the business inside-out, and being local, they’re always available to come and fix any problems we have.”
She mentions how Sensible minimised disruption caused by the switch to VoIP phones, “they explained there might be issues beforehand with it being a new system, and they sorted out everything.
“They are easy to deal with, and provide good support. Joining Sensible has made our lives much easier, leaving us free to focus on our business.”
